Welcome to my photo Album from Greece. When most people think of Greece,
they only think of
Athens Olympia and the Cyclades (Santorini, Mykinos, Delos, and other white washed islands). However,
there is much more to Greece than those stereotypical travel destinations. In this
photo album, I have tried to connect to the hidden side of Greece that few American tourists see.
I have tried to capture the natural beauty of the country and sites that are known to many locals, but may be
overlooked by the typical tourist. I would not do Greece justice though if I did not include the stereotypical destinations as well.
I have split my galleries up by geographical regions. The
Ionian Islands are the
islands on the far west of Greece. Until a few years ago, only Corfu suffered
from mass tourism. Though they are now on the tourist map, they are still not as traveled as the other,
"more popular" islands. The
Peloponnese is the large "Island" that sticks
off the southwestern part of Greece. It was here that the Corinthians, Spartans, Argonots, and
Olympians lived. This area should not be missed for its pure beauty, scenic coastal areas, and cities
which reap of history.
The
Argo-saronic Islands are the four
island stuck in-between the Argoid coast and Cape Sounion. Distinct from the mainland and
other islands.
Central Greece (Attica) has names that speak for themselves such as
Delphi and Athens. Lastly the
Aegean Islands are the
islands most tourists head. Some of them such as Lesbos are untouched and
maintain their tradition. Others such as Mykinos have been spoiled but have beautiful
buildings.
